Position Summary:   
The Controller’s primary responsibilities are the supervision of the Bank Regulatory Reporting function, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, General Ledger Maintenance, Account Reconciliation process and the monthly & quarterly close financial close.  The Controller is responsible for overseeing the implementation of new accounting pronouncements.  The Controller also assists internal and external auditors during examinations.
 
Essential Duties and Critical Responsibilities:

 
  • Oversee the regulatory reporting process (e.g. call report, FR Y9-C, etc.)
  • Coordinate with the assistant controller in the preparation and submission of quarterly SEC filings
  • Review new accounting pronouncements to determine impact on the company
  • Oversee the account reconciliation process.
  • Oversee the accounts payable process.
  • Oversee the updating and maintenance of fixed assets.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and monthly and quarterly closing and consolidation processes.
  • Participate in implementation of new general ledger platform
  • Interact with and provide support to internal and external auditors.
 
Number of Employees to be Supervised: 2 to 3 
 
Background and Experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • M.B.A. and/or CPA a plus
  • 20+ years experience in financial reporting in the financial services industry some of which was with a community bank
  • Detailed understanding of bank regulatory reporting (call report, etc.)
  • Experience with SEC filing (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K)
  • Experience in implementing new accounting pronouncements
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and handle pressure
  • Strong project management skills
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Strong understanding of account reconciliations process
