POSITION CHARACTERISTICS: 
This position is responsible for the support of the existing loan portfolio, analysis, processing and timely completion of credit analyses for review by the Portfolio Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Prepare written reviews on all existing loans relative to financial strengths and weaknesses of borrowers, risk assessments, strength of guarantors, collateral and loan structures with opinions as to credit worthiness.
  • Gathering information on actual and prospective borrowers through inquiries and investigations with trade suppliers, financial institutions, professional firms or individuals and in-house information on borrowers relative to loan amount, activity, profitability and affiliate relationships.
  • Establish and maintain a computerized loan compliance system to enable the bank to ensure customer compliance and relationship manager’s enforcement of the terms of the relevant loan documents.
  • Spreading financial statements through the use of Sageworks and other computerized financial software program and analyze reports produced by the system for preparation of written reviews.
  • Provide in-office backup for Portfolio Managers when they are on calls to develop more information on the companies being analyzed and better assess the risks associated with the credit.
  • Monitor the loan compliance on existing customer accounts. 
  • Regularly track the stages of active and pending loans.
  • Analyze loans highlighting any problems or questions and writing the credit analysis.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge of accounting and legal principles underlying the bank’s documents.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • 1-5 years underwriting experience in Commercial Credit (i.e. Commercial Real Estate preferable).
  • Strong math aptitude, organizational and analytical skills
  • Computer literate; fluency in Microsoft Office programs, Excel analysis required
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships both internally & externally.
  • Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills with the ability to make decisions based on researched conclusions.
  • Knowledge of banking products, services, policies, procedures and regulations

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business related combined with a minimum 1 year of related work experience.
