Branch Manager

 Position Summary: The Branch Manager is responsible for the administration and efficient daily operation of a full service branch office, including product sales, customer service, and operations.  Develops new deposit business and loan referrals; provides a superior level of customer relations and promotes the sales and service culture through coaching, guidance and staff motivation. Achieves individual and branch sales goals through new acquisition (includes traditional bank products/services and Carver Community Cash products/services), referrals to business partners and retention of account relationships.  Provides leadership, training and supervision; delegates day to day operations to the Assistant Branch Manager or other branch personnel.  Participates in community affairs to increase the Bank's visibility and to enhance new and existing business opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales: (60%)
Directly manage the Bank’s sales process by coaching to key activities and sales behaviors of their direct reports
  • Responsible to achieve sales goals/targets, contributing toward the achievement of branch-wide new acquisition, deposit growth, fee income, referral, and cross-sell targets.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans which are consistent with Carver's Retail direction and result in achieving targeted goals.
  • Lead branch sales huddles, develop and execute branch action plans, perform coaching sessions with Personal Bankers and Tellers on a frequent basis to reinforce STARS sales process, which includes the use of Your Money Map, cross-sell, 10 day follow-up call after account openings.
  • Integrate segment partners (e.g. Lending) into the branch team to drive sales and ensure that all client expectations are met.
  • Drive outbound sales activities specifically Carver Community Cash by working with Retail Sales Manager to identify and cultivate new relationships.
 Staff Management: (20%)
  • Recruit and interview candidates in teller hiring process for branch.
  • Conduct performance reviews, handle employee matters relating to job performance, promotions, transfers and terminations for teller staff.
  • Set expectations for branch staff, fostering an environment in which team members work together to achieve all business goals.
  • Coordinate the training of branch personnel and provide on-the-job coaching with primary focus on teller sales coaching.
Customer Service: (10%)
  • Provide leadership around the customer experience.  Ensure a consistent, high level of service by coaching.
     
Audit / Compliance: (10%)
  • Ensure compliance with operational, security and control policies and procedures, preventing fraud and protecting customer assets.  Follow consumer and business banking guidelines for accuracy and proper account handling.  
Specific Duties:

 Background and Experience:
  • Ability to make sound judgments with limited information
  • Five to ten years of experience managing a commercial or savings bank branch
  • Solid management and customer service experience
  • Retail banking sales experience
  • Knowledge of banking regulations
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Minimum two years in a sales management position preferred
  • Some type of retail experience preferred
  • Knowledge of various bank products, services, regulations and compliance procedures
