Department: Credit Department
Reports to: Chief Credit Officer
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Underwrite loans ranging from $100M to $7MM to business, individuals, and non-profit organizations. Types of loans include C &I, term loans and commercial mortgages
- Responsible for reviewing loan packages, interpreting credit quality information and conducting complex credit and financial analyses, based on financials, tax returns, cash flows and industry trends.
- Prepares narrative analysis and recommendations for approval; may participate in special projects assignments
- Ensures loan structure is consistent with Loan Policy.
- Identifies credit policy exceptions and incorporates suitable mitigants into the credit package.
- Proactively communicates with Lending Officers during the underwriting process
- Prepare annual reviews, renewals, modifications, risk rating evaluations and extensions for existing loan portfolio
- Engage in client meetings and conduct site visits
- Conducts and participates in customer meetings/conference calls
- Ensure all documentation and work product maintained in credit files
Skills needed:
- Strong underwriting skills and ability to independently understand and communicate complex credit issues and analyze credit risks.
- Proficiency and experience in analyzing financials and reviewing credit quality for business and non-profit loans.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting
- Thorough understanding of commercial credit and strong credit quality skills including accounting, financial statement analysis and cash flow analysis experience
- Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups to manage internal and external customer relationships.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with business clients from various backgrounds and industries
- Thorough understanding of risk and consequences of errors in formulating decisions and providing directions to others.
- Excellent presentation,verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Background/Experience
- Bachelors Degree with an equivalent of 3-5 years of experience in an underwriting, credit analysis or lender/relationship manager role.
- Well developed analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of bank products and services
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products
