Retail Banking District Manager

Position Summary:

The scope of this role encompasses 3 key areas - Sales, Management and Operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the business related activities and financial results for ten Retail Banking Branches and alternate channels (i.e., online, ATMs) with over $540MM in total deposits. The role has direct management of Branch Managers. Accountable for achieving sales goals related to new client acquisition, deposit growth, cross sell, and goals associated with the Carver Banking Products. Additionally, ensures compliance with all operating procedures and regulations. Creates ongoing operating efficiencies and controls. Continuously reviews retail financial and operating practices.
Provide sales and management leadership. Coach and support branch staff to goal achievement and desired behaviors. Ensure effective performance management, through ongoing observation, feedback, coaching, and documentation of individual performance to required goals and outcomes. Manage deployment of branch resources to ensure efficiency and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and staff engagement. Partner with other lines of business to maximize sales performance and effectiveness.

Responsibilities and Duties: 
Formulates and implements programs for business development/sales promotion by identifying the customer base within the region, organizing resources, focusing call programs, supervising sales and staff
activities, planning and carrying out special promotions, and making joint calls on important prospects and large accounts to sell and service all banking needs (loans, deposits, services, etc.).
Maintains service standards for retail and commercial accounts in order to ensure customer satisfaction, loyalty and retention.
Maintains the workflow/scheduling, employee counseling and performance problems/resolutions, preparation of the annual employee reviews(s), determine and fulfilling training and needs, interviewing and
recommending new hires, promotions, demotions, terminations and salary adjustments in partnership with the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Delivers on sales volumes and revenue targets
 
Proactively engages in new business development for retail and business lending
Monitors competitor activities and programs, and identify product, marketing and other opportunities to
increase deposits and meet revenue targets
Manages branch network associates, including career development, performance management, employee Cngagement and recognition
Implements a customer interaction model for excellent sales and service experience
In-branch coaching of Branch Managers and Personal Bankers
Serves as a community leader for the bank
Demonstrates ownership of service levels and operational excellence
Manages risk and compliance for branches
 
Qualifications: 
Minimum of 5 years of multi-site Branch/Sales management experience required (7 or more locations),coupled with a proven track record of developing and coaching high performance sales teams.
 Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate and implement a strategic vision
Thorough grounding in current retail distribution channels, e.g., ATMs, electronic banking
Retail/Consumer Marketing experience preferred
Solid knowledge of bank regulatory issues
Ability to build trust and credibility with customers, business partners, and staff
Demonstrated leadership, motivational, and influencing skills
Ability to effectively plan and execute sales strategy
Ability to make quick and difficult decisions under pressure
Knowledge of New York City financial markets and economic trends
BA/BS required
