Position Summary
The Loan Support Specialist is responsible for a number of critical tasks within the Loan Support department and supports the Bank’s day-to-day loan origination and servicing activities. This position assists the Loan Support Manager with assigned projects and manages non-direct report staff as requested. The Loan Support Specialist acts as a liaison between the Loan Support Department and many other partners, internal and external, including Carver’s loan servicing partner, borrowers and loan participants. Key internal partners include the Lending, Portfolio Management, Audit, and Compliance departments.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Loan Support (85%)
  • Support the Loan Support Manager in preparing all invoices for CT Lien Solutions, Equifax, Appraisers and Outside Counsel
  • Manage and/or assist with loan originations, cancellations, payoffs, transfers and adjustments
  • Review (and correct, if necessary) all portfolio level changes for DMI and Premier master files
  • Update the tickler system in Sageworks for financial statement and covenant compliance requirements
  • Generate daily, weekly and monthly reports from DMI, Premier and Sageworks databases for department monitoring and for use by other supported departments
  • Liaise with New Market Tax Credit CDE Investors and loan participants
  • Act as liaison with Carver branches in regards to Cash Access loans
  • Resolve loan issues by conferring with the Loan Support Manager and/or other departments and external contacts as necessary
  • Enforce escrow on all applicable loans and organize escrow remittance for taxes, insurance, and other services
  • Maintain relationship with all escrow servicing groups within DMI, track payments and verify escrow analysis
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding to business partners, account officers and external customer inquiries in a timely manner
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining department policy and procedure manuals to accurately reflect processes and controls
  • Assist Loan Quality Control Specialist, Loan Origination Specialist, and Loan Servicing Specialist as needed
  • Assist Loan Quality Control Specialist with loan pool purchases and sales and other periodic tasks
  • Assist with loan documentation preparation and closing/funding activities including post closing exception monitoring
Audit Compliance (15%)
  • Help ensure department compliance with Bank and regulatory policies and procedures
  • Directly support all compliance matters relating to FHLB Loans
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Minimum Associates Degree or equivalent related business experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in loan administration, loan servicing or loan documentation; consumer and commercial credit experience required
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Familiarity with all phases of loan processing
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate knowledge of loan servicing activities and terminology
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate, construction, business, SBA, residential and consumer mortgage loan processing and loan documentation
  • Knowledge of lien perfection and collateral release processes
  • Knowledge of State, Federal and general banking compliance requirements and regulations
  • Able to read and understand credit approval terms and conditions
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel & Word skills
  • Knowledge of Fiserv, EasyLender and Sageworks loan systems
  • Proficient knowledge of loan processing and escrow management
